ok kids... forget college!

OK, remember how you were told as a kid to go to college so you can get a good job? Well, either I do not have a 'good' job or I wasted my time and my parent's money on college.

What in the world am I talking about? Twice in my career I have either been replaced or passed over for a job by someone who has NEVER been to college!!! What the frick?!?!? In Macon I was replaced by someone who had not gone to college (he did take weather correspondence courses to get a certificate in meteorology once he started doing weather) and the other day I was trying to answer questions Dagwood was asking me about correspondence weather classes and she admitted she did not understand what a 'credit hour' was because she had never been to college!!!!!! Good lord!

So, the job hunt continues. My bosses have yet to come to me to ask me to stay. To make matters worse they announced they hired a new person for the AM show y'day. A slightly plump girl that went to UF no less!!!!! Freakin' Gators!!! Did they ask me if I was interested? No. I found out about it in an e-mail announcement. Nice, I know.

At this point my best chance of staying will most likely be if my bosses get fired. There may actually be a decent chance of that happening since the May ratings book was the worst since I have been there! That is despite the fact that they plastered Dagwood's face all over billboards around town to build hype and promo her. Now, I admit she looks pretty good on the billboards, but I assure you they are airbrushed like a t-shirt in Panama City Beach. That is NOT the person that sits next to me. So, I wait and I send tapes. Where have tapes gone so far? Here is a list. Some places have openings and others do not.

I actually went to TWC on Tuesday for a meet and greet (Not an interview). They are for sale and as a result they are not hiring to keep the bottom line pretty for the corporate folks. Maybe something will happen there, but who knows when that might happen.

Other than that I have heard nothing yet as far as the openings. Not surprising since the May book just ended. Typically news director's are fighting other fires in the book. At the end of the book there are usually lots of openings and lots of hires. We will see what happens.

Mauri and I are off to the lake tomorrow for a long weekend to decompress. We need it with all the crazy job stuff going on right now.
