Well, Mauri and I made it back from PA for my Grandmother's 90th birthday. It was a quick, but successful trip. We got to my mom's mom's house around 11pm (Friday) after driving up from Baltimore (no, you can not fly to Harrisburg for under $500). We spent the night there and most of the morning and afternoon.
Saturday evening we went to dad's mother's birthday party at the Hotel Hershey. Just about everyone from my dad's side of the family was there. The lone exceptions were my cousin Tim and his new wife Amanda (the ones whose wedding we just went to) because they just got back from their honeymoon in Ireland.
Anyway, the evening was great and it was fun to catch up with so many cousins.
Most of them have kids now which is CRAZY! It is kinda sad that we do not get together like we did every summer when we went to the shore when we were kids. Oh well, it was still fun catching up!I think Grandma really enjoyed the party and having everyone together. Of course, a place like the Hotel Hershey was the perfect setting. My grandfather was a bellhop there way back in the day so it has always had a special family meaning.
After a morning brunch it was back to my mom's mom's house on the other side of the river. This coming Sunday is my uncle's birthday so Grandma had a little family birthday party for him a week early. It was nice to see more cousins, John & Emily.
By the time we got home Monday evening both Mauri and I felt like we had just about ate and drank ourselves to death! We were actually excited to work some of the food/drinks off at boot camp last night!
The weekend was really nice and Mauri held up well and enjoyed the time with my grandmother's. I know it was tough on her as we are expecting her own grandmother (her mom's mom) to pass away any day now. Still, I think it helped us focus and made sure we enjoyed the time we have with them.
A lot is up in the air depending on when Nana passes, etc. Barring that I am supposed to work on Headline News Friday AM and then of course we have football this Saturday in Tallahassee.
I will keep you posted and get some pics from PA as soon as I can. In the mean time you will have to live with my crappy .3MP camera phone pics. :-(
