So, it had been a few weeks since the focus group for the Tulsa opening met. I e-mailed the news director to find out the latest. He informed me that although I tested well, they decided on someone who had Oklahoma ties. Fair enough.
The ND said the focus group thought I was good, but that my sense of humor made me more likely to be a morning person, rather than a chief. That was interesting feedback considering I have typically been considered more of a chief than a morning person. I have always had to work on my natural personality coming out so I would be more well-rounded instead of being considered on a 'chief.'
Oh well, so we move on from Oklahoma... where in all honesty... my heart was never in the first place. Maybe my wallet, but not my heart. :-)
Nothing major is on the job front. There is an opening in San Fran I applied for. The only encouraging thing about that is that I have a connection at the station there. Of course they had an opening earlier this year and chose someone more 'diverse.'
I will probably give the job hunt until the end of the year before I decide on a new career here in Atlanta. We will see. If I did something else I would try and continue to do the CNN thing as freelance because I love it, but TV as your main job is pretty brutal and is getting old.
In the mean time I will continue to send out tapes and keep you posted on the latest and when I will be freelancing at CNN.
