So, apparently you can skip reading any of the below posts about the new boss. Why? Because I was informed today that my contract would not be renewed.
I knew it was coming. Either that or they were un-aware that my contract was up. I was not given an answer as to why. I am so glad I never went in and asked about staying. I would have hated for them to say no. It is just best that I never said anything to them.
The Assistant News Director told me in his office a little before 6 and he said he did not even know why... but that it came from 'upstairs.' He said he would try and find something out for me. Seriously, if the GM made the decision then tell me to my face or at least tell the Asst. ND why so he can tell me. Did he really think I would not ask that question???
If I had to guess it was probably my lack of support for the state of the weather department or maybe the fact that during severe weather I 'shined' too much making Dagwood look pitiful. Who knows.
They also told me I need to 'play out the string.' I will need to work through July 5th. No biggee. I might call in sick on the 3rd & 4th since I do not have any scheduled tasks on those days (the 5th is a Saturday and I am off right now on Saturday's). My last show will be midday on July 2nd. I do get to do the 'main' shows next Wed-Fri which will be nice. It kind sucks that with my 'temporary' schedule shift that I will not do another weekend show with the crew I like so much.
Honestly, it was a big relief and I am not even sad. Now I can move onto this CNN freelance opportunity in the interim. I am still finding out those details and will pass them along when I find out more. If it all works out it will be a great opportunity to get network exposure in every market in the country. Plus, who knows what it could lead to there or someplace else. All I have to do is have fun and do my thing.
The funny thing is I have had 3 TV jobs and been 'let go' from all three!!! Crazy... how can you get perfect performance reviews from every place you work yet get canned from them all?!?!?! :-) Only in tv...
Maybe this means I will be able to go to more football games this fall!!! See, there is a bright side to everything. :-) I will keep you posted as I find out more.

Greener pastures! I've not heard anyone who left that shop (by any method) who have complained that they're worse off for it! (((HUGS)))
